A two-judge bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar heard the case against the key suspect’s acquittal.
During the hearing CJP inquired the accused Shah Hussain’s father, “How you run campaign against the court?”
He also asked, “What would you do if a daughter of a lawyer faces the same happening?
However, the top judge directed Justice Asif Saeed Khosa to probe the matter.
Earlier, Khadija Siddiqui had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Lahore High Court (LHC) verdict of acquitting Shah Hussain, after giving him benefit of the doubt.
The petition was submitted by Barrister Salman Safdar on behalf of his client Khadija Siddiqui.
The claimant prayed the apex court to declare the LHC’s verdict null and void and restore the sentence of the culprit.
