Tally of coronavirus patients
Nation wide of confirmed coronavirus cases rose to 3,277 on Monday after new infections were confirmed in the country and recovery rate also increases that is 257.

The province-wise break up of the total number of cases is as follows:

• Islamabad Capital Territory: 82

The worldwide number of officially confirmed fatalities from the novel coronavirus now stands at above 70,000.

Punjab govt taking serious steps to control coronavirus

Government of Punjab on Monday announced the extension of its novel coronavirus related ongoing lockdown by seven more days.

Ministry for Interior, Punjab issued a notification on the matter formalising the decisions.

According to the notification the coronavirus triggered lockdown will now persist till 5pm, April 14.

PIA pilots test positive for coronavirus

Government of Punjab’s Health Ministry announced that two pilots working for Pakistan’s national carrier, PIA have tested positive for novel coronavirus.

According to details, both Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) pilots were screened after flying special flights to Canada with Pakistani origin Canadian nationals.

The results of the screening came out positive and both pilots were declared infected.

The pilots were stuck in Canada for a few days with five others and were unable to fly back to Pakistan amidst the suspension of global airspace due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

Govt decides to implement new SOPs for int’l arrivals

Under the SOPs, all persons will be screened as per practice upon arrival of international flights. It also read, “The swab sample shall not, however, be collected at the airport.”

Moreover, the passengers and flight crew members will be quarantined for 24 hours at a location decided by the authorities.

Positive development in Balochistan

Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan has confirmed that 31 more people have recovered from the COVID-19 in the province.

CM Jam Kamal Khan took to Twitter saying at least 31 more patients who tested positive for COVID-19 have made a full recovery in Balochistan and discharged from hospital. 

KP govt extends ban on public transport

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has extended the ban on inter-district public transport till April 12 as part of the initiatives taken for tackling the issue of coronavirus in the province.

The ban on public service vehicles was imposed initially for one week on March 22 which was extended in the wake of escalation in the transmission of COVID-19 and owing to the immediate requirement of further preventive measures for social distancing.

Indonesia reports biggest daily rise in coronavirus cases

Indonesia on Monday confirmed 218 new coronavirus cases, the biggest daily jump since the first cases were announced a month ago, taking the total number of infections to 2,491, a Health Ministry official said.

Achmad Yurianto, the official, said that 11 deaths had been recorded, taking the total to 209, while 192 people had recovered.

Philippines reports 11 more deaths, 414 new coronavirus infections

The Philippines’ Health Ministry on Monday reported 11 additional deaths and 414 new infections from of the coronavirus outbreak.

In a bulletin, the ministry said total deaths in the Philippines had reached 163 and cases rose to 3,660, while 73 patients had recovered.

New coronavirus cases rises in China

Mainland China reported 39 new coronavirus cases as of Sunday, up from 30 a day earlier, and the number of asymptomatic cases also surged, as Beijing continued to struggle to extinguish the outbreak despite drastic containment efforts.

The National Health Commission said in a statement on Monday that 78 new asymptomatic cases had been identified as of the end of the day on Sunday, compared with 47 the day before.
